For students from grade 9 to grade 12 at more than 30 high schools * participants must reside in the Jamestown catchment area (bordered by Martin Grove / Finch / Albion / John Garland / Kipling) but can be studying at any high school

Description des services:

Created to reduce high school drop-out rate of youth in various communities, the program ensures that ‘at-risk’ students are able to access post-secondary education * grade 8 students (living in the Jamestown area) are enrolled into the program and receive comprehensive supports, which include:

  • Tutoring: academic support in all core subjects
  • Mentoring: social supports focused on issues such as social skills building, leadership, health and career planning
  • Student-Parent Support Workers: an individual assigned to each student to provide advocacy support, help them problem solve and connect with parents, schools, teachers etc
  • Financial Incentives: students who actively participate in the program and are meeting expectations are eligible to receive incentives from the program based on funding. Students registered in the program for a minimum of two years will receive a bursary that goes towards their post secondary education
