For eligibility for DSO only - call DSO (1-855-372-3858) or dsotr@surreyplace.ca). Once eligibility is confirmed by DSO, email Adult Intake - adult.intake@surreyplace.ca and ask them to make a referral to PEP.

Admissibilité / population desservie

Parents of child and youth who demonstrated eligibility through Developmental Services Ontario * must be 18 years of age and older * have children in their custody or a plan to return must be in place* live in the city of Toronto

Description des services:

Training and support to parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are deemed eligible for support through Developmental Services Ontario.

Therapists teach families skills to make them more self-sufficient and help them become the best parents they can be. Multifaceted and collaborative teaching method used that emphasizes personalized, home-based and child-care instruction. Training is provided covering several topics, including:
  • Basic infant and childcare skills
  • Home safety
  • First aid
  • Nutrition
  • Positive parent-child interactions
  • Skill building
  • Community support
  • Service coordination
  • Referrals and advocacy

Qui sommes-nous ?

The Parenting Enhancement Program (PEP) provides training and support to parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have been deemed eligible for support through Developmental Services Ontario. A focus on teaching skills to be more self-sufficient, and to help parents maintain full custody of their children or create future care plans.
