Pre-screening by telephone before in-person interview * Documents required for interview include: Current energy bills from their residence * Notice of Service Disconnection, if applicable * Applicant identification- two pieces of I.D. from the main applicant, and one piece from each of the other household members * Copy of rental receipt, lease or mortgage document * Proof of household income- cheque stubs, a letter from the employer and/or income tax return * Bank statement(chequing and/or savings) from the last 60 days

Admissibilité / population desservie

May be available to low-income customers of natural gas or electricity distributors (and unit sub-metering providers) experiencing difficulty paying current arrears * decision will be based on several factors including long-term viability of the account * a disconnection notice is required to be eligible (Questions regarding clients who are in arrears and not in receipt of disconnection notice, call for details)

Access centre to apply for LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program):
* one-time emergency financial assistance per calendar year
* program runs year round
* maximum grant is $500 per fuel per household per year ($600 for electrically heated homes) 
* grant is credited directly toward energy bill 
* agency can arrange a 21-day hold on a disconnection notice while a case is being assessed 
* all decisions can be appealed
