Description des services:

Provides specialized inpatient and outpatient cancer care and support services

Outpatient services:
  • Cancer screening
  • Medical oncology - Clinics and Radiation therapy
  • Systemic (drug-based) oncology - Clinics and Chemotherapy
  • Surgical oncology - Clinics
  • Diagnostic Assessment Programs (Breast, Thoracic, Hepato-pancreatic biliary, Prostate, Rectal)
  • Rapid Evaluation and Assessment of Cancer Treatment (REACT)
  • Palliative care clinics with medical and radiation oncology
  • Brain tumour, central nervous system tumours
  • Clinical trials

Inpatient services:
  • Dedicated oncology inpatient beds
  • Complex malignant hematology

Psychosocial services:
  • Survivorship and follow-up care
  • Nutrition support
  • Drug coverage support
  • Mental, emotional, spiritual well-being
  • Patient and family education

Patients are admitted to the unit for medical reasons like stroke (CVA), pneumonia or, for the treatment, management, and care related to cancer diagnosis * health care team meets on a regular basis to review and continue to develop the plan of care as needs change * literature is available on a variety of issues and can be obtained from the Oncology Information Centre on the unit


Palliative care - therapists comfort and support individuals and families who are living with a terminal illness * patients may be admitted to the palliative care unit from home or hospital
