One of 13 regional cancer centres in Ontario * offers services for diagnosis and specialized treatment for cancer * health care team may include oncologists, oncology nurses, oncology pharmacists, dietitians, medication access specialist/drug navigator, psychosocial oncology team, radiation therapists, hospital chaplain, volunteers, etc.

- Palliative care clinics within medical and radiation oncology
- Diagnostic Assessment Programs (DAP)
- Rapid Evalutaion & Assessment of Cancer Treatment (REACT)
- Brain tumour, central nervous system tumours

- Dedicated oncology inpatient beds
- Complex malignant hematology
- Survivorship and follow-up care
- Nutrition support

- Support for mental, emotional and spiritual well-being
- Patient and family education
- Patients are admitted to the unit for medical reasons like stroke (CVA), pneumonia or, for the treatment, management, and care related to cancer diagnosis * health care team meets on a regular basis to review and continue to develop the plan of care as needs change * literature is available on a variety of issues and can be obtained from the Oncology Information Centre on the unit
Palliative care - therapists comfort and support individuals and families who are living with a terminal illness * patients may be admitted to the palliative care unit from home or hospital
