Provide neuropsychological and psychological assessments, diagnosis, intervention and consultation for patients and their families * conducts research
Neuropsychological Assessments - For children with an injury or disease of the central nervous system issues * assess language, problem solving, attention, memory skills, and behavioural and emotional issues * results help monitor effects of brain injury or medical treatment and allow for academic, vocational and rehabilitation planning
Psychological Assessments - For children experiencing cognitive, emotional or behavioural symptoms related to their medical condition * assessments for parents having difficulty coping with their child's illness
Intervention - Treatments * pain and nausea management * home and hospital behavioural management * group bereavement for siblings and parents
Consultation - Consult with hospital health care professionals regarding issues that may affect child's health care regime or medical condition * educate staff and students about psychological issues that impact children with chronic illness * partner with schools and agencies to address child's needs
Research - Conducts research in a variety of topics
