The program works in conjunction with the hospital Emergency Department

  • When an individual is admitted to the Emergency Department, the Triage Nurse or Emergency Room Nurse will provide information on the services of the Sexual Assault/Partner Abuse program
  • Upon arriving one may also ask to talk with the Nurse Examiner from the Sexual Assault/Partner Abuse and SafeKids program
  • The emergency room staff will contact the on-call Nurse

Description des services:

Provides services to victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and sexual/physical violence
  • Responds to physical, psychological, social and medico-legal needs
  • Provides community education
Coordinates direct services including:
  • Crisis counselling
  • Immediate and follow-up nursing care
  • Medical care and treatment of injuries
  • Sexual Assault Evidence Kit by request
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and treatment
  • Collaboration, liaison with other community agencies to provide child sexual assault and physical abuse services
