  • National Native Alcohol & Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) worker in own community


Offers 6 client intakes per year; waiting list is usually from 6 months-1 year to get into program

Admissibilité / population desservie

  • Must be a member of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN) First Nations

  • Must have a chemically dependent family member(s) who is out of the acute stage and has expressed a desire for help and

  • Has been clean and sober for at least 30 days prior to start of program and

  • Has recently completed a medical examination and

  • Has completed referral forms

Description des services:

  • Provides a residential drug and alcohol treatment program where the entire family attends treatment
  • Treatment models offered are Alcoholics Anonymous, Stages of Change and Life Skills
  • Offers an adult program, a youth program and a school-aged children`s program
  • Provides childcare and academic tutors for children of families attending program
  • Accommodates a maximum of 4 families per full program session
  • Treatment is a six week phased program which includes:
    • Pre-treatment and referral at the community level
    • Orientation
    • Assessment of alcohol/substance abuse behaviour
    • Understanding the disease
    • Relationships
    • Healing of memories
    • Several cultural activities such as trapping, fishing and hunting, as well as cooking food outdoors
    • Transition and return home
    • Aftercare and follow up at the community level for one year
