COVID-19 Service Change: Social Services continues to operate and offer limited services. Applications are accepted online or by calling 519-661-4520 ext 3.

The office at Citi Plaza - 355 Wellington Rd - will offer:

  • drop box for mail and verification documents
  • cheque pick up for new applicants without an address will be available every Friday from 11am-2pm
  • monthly cheque pick up at the end of the month - May 28 and 29, and June 1 from 9am-12noon and 1pm-4pm
  • subsidized transit passes available for purchase every Friday from 1pm-4pm. Passes can also be purchased at LTC sales locations. For LTC locations, information or hours of operation call 519-451-1347.

All other City Social Services office locations and community mail boxes are closed until further notice.

Financial assistance for special items of extreme need may be provided to eligible recipients

Health-related:
  • dental care for adults
  • vision care for adults
  • prosthetic appliances
  • funerals and burials
  • heating payments and payments for low-cost heating energy conservation measures

Non-health-related:
  • vocational training and retraining
  • travel and transportation that is not for health-related purposes
  • moving expenses
  • any other special service, item or payment authorized by the Director

The Discretionary Benefits Program offers eligible London residents financial assistance to purchase essential health related and emergency assistance items when all other resources are exhausted. All items require pre-approval by Discretionary Benefits staff.
