Description of Services

  • Provides education on healthy eating and increasing physical fitness levels for urban Indigenous children and families
  • Implements culture-based activities to enhance the well-being and traditional knowledge of urban Indigenous children and families
  • Programs components:
    • Promotion and provision of healthy nutrition
      • hands-on and interactive workshops to introduce food choices
      • supplying nutrition snacks, meals and food for children and family programming
      • providing healthy meal preparation tools and instruction
      • relaying nutrition information
      • Promotion of physical activity
        • structured, fun, interactive activities and games to increase physical activity rates and maintain an active lifestyle
        • Promotion of healthy lifestyles
          • youth-focused messaging and activities around living commercial tobacco free
          • living a substance-free lifestyle
          • having a healthy mind
          • everyday good living
          • Promotion and sharing of local culture, traditions and ceremonies that will instill a strong sense of identity and self-esteem at an early age
