Eligibility / Target Population
Individuals of legal working age and not attending full time school or training; must be resident of Ontario and eligible to work in Canada
Better jobs Ontario Individuals who have been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household
Self-service information and resources - Anyone, including people with jobs, those who are under-employed, people looking for work, students, apprentices, internationally trained individuals, employers
Assisted services (such as supported job search, job matching and placement, job retention services) - People who are unemployed and out of school

Better Jobs Ontario - Skills training and financial support for unemployed workers
Services for employers -- Help in identifying human resource skills requirements
Canada-Ontario Job Grant - The ministry is transitioning to a re-designed Canada Ontario Job Grant model with a new delivery approach that enhances efficiency, monitoring, and employer support. Applications that were in progress when approvals were paused cannot be assessed under the current program. Employers will have an opportunity to reapply under the re-designed program guidelines.
- assessment of skills, interests and abilities
- job search strategies and support, including resume development and interview preparation
- information about careers and occupations, local labour market, employment opportunities
- help in maintaining employment
- information and referral to other employment and community services
Better Jobs Ontario - Skills training and financial support for unemployed workers
- training program must demonstrate good job prospects
- financial support based on need, may include tuition, instructional costs, books, transportation and/or a basic living allowance
Services for employers -- Help in identifying human resource skills requirements
- matching of workplace needs to workers' skills, capabilities, interests and experience
- support for developing on-the-job training plans and monitoring of placements to support retention
