Description of Services
The goal of the program is to reduce the incidence of violence and abuse in the African Canadian community. The program provides the following services:
Clients include women, youth, seniors, men either as victims or perpetrators, and also children witnesses of abuse in their homes
- VAW information, supportive counseling, and referrals to clients experiencing or at risk of abuse
- public education workshops on violence and abuse Program activities include:
- drop-in daily one on one supportive counseling, information, and referrals to community resources.
- promotion and targeted outreach to isolated seniors, women, and families
- monthly workshops and group sessions
- weekly meetings in support groups such as Woman to Woman, Teen Moms, and Cool Mums Support Groups
- field trips and weekly recreational activities
