Eligibility / Target Population
Adults 18 years and older who need invasive ventilatory support due to chronic ventilatory failure * must be a non-smoker * must be medically stable and no longer need continuous cardio-respiratory monitoring and/or central venous access

Description of Services
22-bed inpatient unit for people who require ongoing mechanical assistance to help them breathe for all or part of the day * help patients learn to plan and direct their own care, and possibly explore independent living * offer long-term residential care as well as slow stream rehabilitation (12 weeks to 2 year) for patients who are able to reintegrate into the community
