Health agency that addresses public health issues and promotes healthy living
- Administers health promotion and disease prevention programs
- Promotes the health of the communities served by enabling people to increase control over the determinants of health
- Prevents the occurrence and spread of disease and reduces resulting disability
- Protects the health of the community by eliminating or reducing health hazards
- Collaborates with individuals, service providers, organizations, agencies and other health units
- Promotes equitable access to health programs and services
