Programs and services that work to reduce the risk of injury, chronic disease and improve health

  • Abuse and Violence Learn about ways to prevent and respond to abuse, including child abuse, abuse of older adults, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence

  • Active Living Resources to help move your body, eat well, and get enough sleep to support well-being and reduce the risk of chronic disease

  • Alcohol and Other Drugs Learn about the health impacts of alcohol, opioids, cannabis, tobacco and vapour products * find quit resources and learn how parents can support their children to make informed choices

  • Dental Health Dental preventative services for qualifying children and youth 17 years of age and younger

  • Food and Eating Eating is about more than food and can look different from person to person. Choose foods for enjoyment, culture, preferences, traditions, budget, health, and celebrations:
    • enjoy a variety of foods, including foods found in Canada’s Food Guide
    • include plant-based foods like beans, peas, pulses, vegetables, and fruits
    • pay attention to feeling hungry and full
    • cook and eat with others more often
    Canada’s Food Guide can help:
    • lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, and osteoporosis
    • have a healthy pregnancy and baby
    • provide the nutrients for children need to grow and develop
    • have more energy and feel good
