Information on Indigenous Services
Health and social services for Indigenous communities are often a combination of traditional healing, primary care, cultural programs, health promotion programs, resource centres, community development initiatives, and social support services. Indigenous peoples are the descendants of the original inhabitants of North America, who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.
The three First Nations communities closest in proximity to Middlesex County and the City of London are: Chippewa of the Thames First Nation (part of the Anishinaabe); Oneida Nation of the Thames (part of the Haudenosaunee); and, Munsee-Delaware Nation (part of the Leni-Lunaape).
Ontario Caregiver Organization
The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) exists to support Ontario’s 4 million caregivers; ordinary people who provide physical and emotional support to a family member, partner, friend or neighbour. We support caregivers by being their one point of access to information, so they have what they need to be successful in their role.
While it may not seem fitting to call a parent a caregiver, there are situations where a child or youth requires more support than would be expected. This is typically when a child or youth is managing a long-term physical or mental health challenge. As a parent, you may be coordinating a health care team, working with your child’s school or navigating other social services. Regardless, the Ontario Caregiver Organization is here for you.

Ontario Autism Program (OAP)
The Ontario Autism Program (OAP) is funded through the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). All the information you need about this government program and how to register is located at: https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontario-autism-program Who can register for the Ontario Autism Program? To register for the Ontario Autism Program, your child must:
- be under age 18
- currently live in Ontario, and
- have a written diagnosis of autism from a qualified professional
