Eligibility / Target Population

Members of Pays Plat First Nation who are pregnant, new mothers or with infants younger than 12 months of age
Vitamin supplements, milk and food vouchers are only available to women enrolled in the program

Description of Services

Provides supports and services to help families improve maternal and infant nutritional health with a focus on:
Maternal Nourishment that may include:

Baby food making and nutritional cooking sessions
Healthy snacks and meal information
Milk and food vouchers as well as vitamin supplements

Nutrition Screening, Education and Counselling includes:

Education on prenatal nutrition
Understanding food labels
Presentations by dietitians and health specialists
Nutrition screening by Community Health Representative
Individual counselling by nutritionists

Breastfeeding Program includes:

Promotion of breastfeeding initiation and duration
Support groups
Breastfeeding videos and resource materials
