The COPD Education Clinic focuses on the management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as well as other chronic lung diseases. Patients are taught about the pathophysiology of their lung disease, self-management strategies, and ways to optimize their physical well-being. The clinic conducts a variety of tests to assess and monitor pulmonary function and functional ability. For patients who continue to smoke, ongoing visits are offered to counsel on smoking cessation
Helps patients understand:
- how COPD affects lungs
- medication information and why, when and how to take them
- what causes a COPD “flare up” and how to avoid one
- when to seek medical attention
NOTE: This is a virtual clinic. Patients can attend from home, using their telephone, smart phone or computer
