Description of Services

Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for people recovering from spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, trauma, stroke, amputations, and neurological conditions

  • Acquired Brain Injury Program Inpatient, outpatient, and outreach rehabilitation services for people who are recovering from an acquired brain injury
  •  
  • Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team Community rehabilitation for adult survivors of stroke * services offered in client's home, long-term care home, and/or the community in which they live * services include secondary prevention, system navigation, community reintegration, and caregiver supports * rehabilitation team includes a registered nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, social worker, therapeutic recreation specialist, and rehabilitation therapist

  • Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program (CORP) Time-limited hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation program for people recovering from stroke/neurological conditions * services may include:
  •  
  • Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation Program, including DriveABLE Driving Assessment for anyone that has a medical condition affecting driving, including requiring adaptive equipment to drive, driving anxiety, assessing driving safety, and MTO Vision Waiver Program.  Rehabilitation services include in-car training, clinical treatment, and equipment prescription for vehicle modification.

  • Inpatient Amputee Rehabilitation 8-bed hospital inpatient program for people with a lower limb amputation * patients are fitted with a prosthesis and taught how to use their artificial limb
  •  
  • Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program 20-bed hospital inpatient unit for adults with complex musculoskeletal problems * services provided by physiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists

  • NeuroTrauma Rehabilitation (NTR) Client-directed approach to Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) rehabilitation

  • Outpatient Amputee Rehabilitation Hospital-based outpatient clinic for people with an amputation, particularly upper limb amputations, who do not need to stay in hospital * patients may be fitted with a prosthesis and taught how to use it

  • Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation 15-bed inpatient program for people who have had a traumatic or non-traumatic spinal cord injury * treatment designed to help patients reach optimal level of functioning and reintegrate into the community * areas of care include physiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, therapeutic recreation, psychology, psychometry, nutrition, pharmacy, and social work

  • Stroke/Neurological Rehabilitation 26-bed hospital inpatient program for people who have had a stroke or other neurological conditions * core rehabilitation services include:
  •  
  • Transitional and Lifelong Care (TLC) Program Hospital-based outpatient clinic for youth and adults with rehabilitative needs related to a condition of childhood onset, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Rett Syndrome, and developmental delays * services provided by a physiatrist, nurse practitioner, and social worker * other allied healthcare professionals may be available on an as-needed basis
