Eligibility / Target Population

  • Special priority status available for victims of domestic violence and abuse

  • Each member of the household must be a Canadian citizen, or a landed immigrant, or a refugee claimant

  • No deportation, departure or exclusion order has been made against any member of the household

  • No member of the household owes rental arrears to any housing project under any housing program (Includes market and/or rent-geared-to-income)

  • No member of the household has been convicted of an offence under section 85 of the SHRA or a crime under the Criminal Code (Canada) regarding rent-geared-to-income assistance, or found by the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal or a court of law to have misrepresented their income for the purpose of rent-geared-to-income

Fees

Service fees; Fee assistance available for rent geared to income housing; assistance is provided by Kenora District Services Board

Description of Services

Offers housing programs and services to the residents of the Kenora District
  • Provides subsidized housing to low income individuals
  • Offers rent geared to income units and some market rent units
  • Processes applications, maintains waiting lists and identifies applicants for tenant selection
  • Offers a complete list of rent geared to income housing providers
  • Administers homelessness prevention programs
